4th Annual Blackhawk Bolt 5k & Fun Run
The Blackhawk Bolt has come a long way in just four years. We’ve pushed through the growing pains of being a brand-new race, weathered a major storm, and built a tradition that the community has truly embraced. What started small has grown into a much-anticipated event filled with school spirit, community pride, and plenty of Blackhawk energy…and we’re not slowing down.
Join us on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM for the 4th Annual Blackhawk Bolt 5K & Fun Run, featuring our unique road-to-trail course fully on the North Buncombe High School campus. This year, the trail has been cleared and we’re back on our regular 5K route – ready for runners, walkers, and fans alike.
All proceeds benefit the students, staff, and programs at North Buncombe High School.
Race T-Shirts: Registration deadline to guarantee race t-shirt is November 3. Extras will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Race ticket prices are as follows:
$35 – General Registration – Early Bird Pricing of $25 is in effect through September 30th.
$20 – 5k Staff & Student
$15 – 1-mile Fun Run
Online registration will close at 6pm on Friday, November 14th.
Packet pickup – day-of race starting at 9am. We’ll start lining up at the starting line at 9:45 am. Day-of registration will be open at the check-in tables between 9 and 9:45.
Parking attendants will be on-site to direct traffic. Please enter the NBHS campus at the Salem Hill Rd. entrance.
Race Tee
All race registrations include a short sleeved race tee with a limited number of tanks available on-site for a $5 up charge.
Registration deadline to guarantee a race t-shirt is November 3rd, 2025. A limited number of extra t-shirts may be available on race day.
T-Shirt Design Coming Soon!
This year, our NBHS art students will be competing to design the race shirt. We are excited to unveil the winning design in mid-October.

Categories & Prizes
Prizes are awarded to the best time in each age category for both male and female runners, as well as top time overall for both male and female. Age groups for male and female runners are as follows: 0-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
