We want to showcase YOUR creativity! This is your chance to capture the spirit of the Bolt.
We’re calling on all North Buncombe High School students to design the official 2025 Blackhawk Bolt race T-shirt. This is more than just a contest… it’s your opportunity to put your stamp on one of NBHS’s favorite traditions and have your art seen by the entire community on race day.
Whether your design celebrates community, running, or school spirit, we want to see your vision come to life. The Bolt mascot is optional, and a vector file will be provided if you’d like to use or adapt it, but no new mascots, please! You can see and download mascot file below.
Submissions are due Friday, October 10th.
Eligibility
- Open to all NBHS art students, grades 9–12
- One submission per student
- 2D artwork only: hand-drawn or digital
File & Design Requirements
- Digital files: PNG, JPEG, or PDF (minimum 300 DPI)
- Traditional artwork: scan or photograph in high resolution
- No AI-generated artwork or copyrighted material
- Must reflect the spirit of the Bolt: community, running, school pride, or our Blackhawk mascot
- If using the mascot, modifications to positioning are allowed and the design can be reproduced but the basic Blackhawk bird must be preserved. See and or download the vector file of the mascot here.
Awards & Recognition

- Winner receives 2 free race registrations/t-shirts

Designs will first be showcased on PTSO/Blackhawk Bolt social media for community voting, and the final winner will be chosen by a committee.
Contest Rules & Regulations
- All artwork must be original. Traced, AI-generated, or plagiarized designs will be disqualified.
- Keep it school-appropriate: no offensive, suggestive, or political imagery.
- By submitting, you grant NBHS permission to reproduce and use your design for the Blackhawk Bolt and related promotions.
- Have fun! This is about celebrating NBHS pride, creativity, and the community spirit of the Bolt.
